Australian Professional Photography Awards 2009

We have returned from our exciting week in Sydney! We stayed in a beautiful apartment near Darling Harbour where the awards took place. The weather was lovely (better than Perth from all accounts) and we managed to fit in a bit of shopping and sightseeing.

We were very sucessful this year earning a total of 6 awards including one Gold! It was a very exciting time for both of us. Here's the photos that the judges loved.

First up Diane's gold winning print from a wedding she assisted Peter Hasson at earlier this year:

There were over 2,400 entries and only 65 golds so it was pretty exciting! Diane ran around like a headless chicken after it was announced as she was so happy.

Next up is Amber's adorable kids photo taken at Kristie & Adrian's wedding, she's an expert in crying babies, this one got a silver award:

Diane got this funny photo of a groomsman ironing at Katie & Michael's wedding in January (silver award):

Here's a shot that has featured on the blog a couple of times from Elisha & Niall's wedding that earnt Diane a silver with distinction award:

Amber got another silver with this quirky kid photo from Pia and Rod's wedding in January, the judges debated this image for a really long time:

Lastly Diane got a silver for this adorable photo of baby Michael:

A very friendly photographer from Canberra called Thierry Nguyen took this photo of Diane moments after her photo got the gold award:

Amber received her Associateship ribbon at the awards night along with our friends Jane Bennett and Erica Serena. We were also excited for our lovely friend Tina Urie who gained her Master of Photography.

 

We really have to thank Anita our Photoshop whiz for all her help with our entries and Paul Maietta from Fitzgerald Photo Lab for his advice and wonderful printing. Also our wonderful framers Norm and Blair from Preservation Framers for their matting.

Thank you also to our generous clients who were happy for us to use their images in the awards.

Baby Edward is such a cutie! His parents were our wedding clients in 2007 and we were so excited to meet their adorable chubby baby.

Megan & Brahma ~ wedding photography perth ~

Megan and Brahma held a gorgeous intimate wedding at their home in Nedlands. The house was perfect for the occasion and they had decorated inside and out with beautiful flowers.
Megan was radiant in her Pallas gown with a lace bodice.

Brahma's daughter Katya was in charge of the 8 flowers girls! They wore adorable mini sari inspired dresses in bright pink. It was so cute! We had to keep reminding Eva to take some photos of the grown ups too...

Megan & Brahmas' ceremony was designed to reflect the heritage of both their families and was very touching. Katya had a special role and recited a cute little poem.

The guests enjoyed drinks while we popped down to Matilda Bay for some couple photos before everyone headed to the reception at the Opus restaurant in the Richardson Hotel.

What a lovely way to finish our official "wedding season". Megan & Brahma were such delightful people and their families were just so welcoming and friendly. Katya was a pleasure to photograph as well. Enjoy these photos!

Amber and I will be having some weekends off until August when the season starts again. Thank you so much to all our wonderful clients whose weddings we have photographed in the past 12 months. We will be spending the next 6 weeks working hard on wedding albums and catching up around the office. We have also been swamped with family orders in the past two weeks! Stay tuned for awards news, the APPAs start on Friday 28th June in Sydney.

Australian Professional Photography Awards update

Just a quick post to say sorry for our last of posting in the past week. We are working so hard on our entries for the Australian Professional Photography Awards! Thank goodness for Anita in our office as she is a photoshop whiz. We have been doing lots of shooting including a gorgeous intimate wedding which we will be posting in the coming week.

Thank you also to all our lovely clients who have called/emailed/posted on the blog their best wishes for us in Sydney at the end of the month. We love you all and hope we can bring home a couple of awards.

Baby James ~ newborn photography perth ~

My friends Kate and Mike brought the latest addition to their family into the office the other day for his first photo shoot.  Eight week old Baby James is very photogenic and was very cooperative for the camera.  His big sister Kimberley who is two wasn't supposed to be part of the photoshoot but insisted on being included!

 

Amber and I are busy getting ready for APPA (Australian Professional Photography Awards) and our trip to Sydney later this month.  We're hoping to bring back a few awards to decorate the office.
